Los Coyotes

Madrid trio founded in 1979 by Víctor Aparicio (guitar and vocals), a Galician from Tuy, along with Fernando Gilabert (bass/double bass) and Celestino Albizu (drums). Later Ramón Godes (guitar) added to the formation. They exhibited a furious mix of rockabilly and psychobilly in their early days, which gave way to the advance of Latin rock that would still took quite a while to arrive and more to explode. Their "300 Kilos" or "Esta Noche Me Voy A Bailar" are still statements as primitive as memorable. With they came, in an unrepeatable conjunction of intentions and results, "Cien Guitarras", "Como Un Extranjero" or "El Mono", rhythms that would have to extend their influence onto other contemporary bands.

In 1982 they published for Grabaciones Accidentales an EP entitled 'Extraño Corte De Pelo'. Next came the EP 'Ella Es Tan Extraña', again for GASA, in 1983, including the instrumental "Encuentro Con La Patrulla Costera", The Trashmen-like "Trabajando En El Verano" and the influence of Link Wray. Since the single 'Aquí Estoy De Nuevo', for GASA in 1983 and, above all, the EP 'El Mono', released by 3 Cipreses/DRO in 1984, Los Coyotes began to shamelessly to swing towards Latin music. One LP for DRO in 1985, entitled 'Mujer Y Sentimiento', from which the single "Como Un Extranjero" was extracted, had in its B side the cut "¿A Quién Quieres Tú?", a song not included in any album, consisting of a cover of Bo Diddley recorded in 1982.

In 1987 they released 'Las Calientes Noches Del Barrio', with the promotional single "La Estación Del Amor". The following year sees their next album 'De Color De Rosa', with the promotional single of the same name. In 1990 appeared their fourth album, 'Puro Semental', edited by 3 Cipreses, more songs bathed in Latin funk, and some with remarkable commercial potential, although sales still do not take off. That same year appears the EP 'Peces Y Troncos'. The next step was the album 'Tocando Sus Éxitos' (1991), in which Víctor revises and updates, supported by an excellent band that includes several gypsy and Caribbean musicians, some of the best songs of his repertoire.

And here the story of Los Coyotes. Afterwards, Víctor dedicated a long season to focus mainly on his other creative facets: drawing, painting, graphic design or making of video clips. In 1995 he reappeared with another excellent album, 'Lo Bueno, Dentro', signed simply as Victor Coyote. Over time, two compilations of Los Coyotes were released, the first one in 1996 entitled 'Amor De Hermano' and, eight years later, in 2004, '300 Kilos'. [SOURCE: GRUPOS NACIONALES NUEVA OLA 80
