Javier Segura
(full name Francisco Javier Segura González) is a Spanish cult musician, composer and sound engineer born in 1955 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. His music could be defined as a mix of darkwave, tribal ambient and minimal synth. He released three albums on the Ja Ja imprint (a Spanish sub-label of Manzana Records specialized in independent pop and rock bands from Canary Islands): 'Javier Segura' (1983), 'Nostalgia de lo Humano' (1986) and 'Lamento Berebeber' (1989).
Before going solo he played in Arte Moderno with drummer/percussionist Mandi Capote, releasing the 7" single 'Ninette In New York' in 1982, and years before in the Psychedelic Rock band Huellas, with Pedro Martínez and Pedro Valverde, releasing the LP 'Huellas' in 1973 on the Acción label.
His piece “Malagueñas 2” sounds like nothing else of the time and space it
was created. Its dramatic, emotional drones, sound like something Jonny
Greenwood might have cribbed during Radiohead’s 'Kid A' sessions alongside
that famous sample of Paul Lansky’s “Mild Und Leise” in “Idioteque". [SOURCE: NTS]
