The Diagram Brothers

There was nothing light about The Diagram Brothers. With all guitar chords based on discordant notes, and set to a rock or disco beat, the Manchester, England-based quartet offered a bone-crushing sound that bass player, Andy Diagram, dubbed, "discordo", and songs about Satan and mail-order rip-offs.

Formed in 1980, The Diagram Brothers covered a lot of ground before disbanding two years later. Their debut single, 'We Are All Animals', released in October 1980 on the Construct label, was followed by an EP, 'Discordo', single, 'Bricks / Postal Bargains' and full-length album, 'Some Marvels Of Modern Science', on the Buzzcocks' New Hormones label.

Following The Diagram Brothers' breakup, Andy Diagram went on to play trumpet through electronics, in the late-1980s, with Dislocation Dance and James. Moving to London in 1992, he formed an improvisational band, The Honkies. He continues to perform with his own group, The Spaceheads, and with David Thomas And Two Pale Boys. [SOURCE: ALLMUSIC]
