Between Bilbao and Santurtzi, these four lovers of the music of Iggy Pop & The Stooges appeared on the national scene in 1988: Gorka Pastor (vocals), Patxi (guitar), Josetxo (bass) and Alberto L. Martín (drums).
Their first full-length album, after a single ('Don't Follow That Way'/ 'Somebody's Wanna Feel My Anger') and a track on the compilation 'Munster Daces Hall Favorites Vol. 3' ("Sweet Browny") both released by Munster, is 'Blue Tales' (1990) produced by Sonic Boom. An explosive mix of garage, punk and psychedelia, it was released in France and USA.
Next year they released 'Our Kicks', a tribute to bands like Suicide, Spacemen 3, Scientists or T.Rex. It was a great sales success in the USA, where both editions on colored vinyl were quickly sold out. 'Los De La Secta Tocan En Vivo' (1992) is a limited edition live album recorded at Club Jimmy in Bordeaux. It is released in Mexico through the Cuernavaca-based label Discos del Escuincle. Contains one track never recorded in studio, "She".
Several singles and songs for compilations or tribute albums appeared before the release of 'It's Gonna Be A Wild Weekend' (1993), an album produced by Chips K. that was recorded in Bordeaux and mastered in Stockholm. Again a powerful mix of punk, garage, raw power, that includes a cover of The Zeros' "Wild Weekend".
They released another batch of singles and tracks on compilations before their next full-length album 'Fuzz Godz' (1997) produced by Kent Steedman, an album recorded almost live with a very simple and direct production that shows the more Australian/"Stoogian" roots of La Secta.
After several singles and a few tours the band “semi-dissolves”, but their great friend Kent Steedman encourages them to go on and the band is renewed with great musicians from the scene (members of bands like Salamanders, Búffalo, Safety Pins, Spiders, Zodiacs...).
After checking the good vibes, the band (with José on bass and Ricky on drums) enters the Chockablock studio to record their new EP 'The Killer Who Wants Some Fun', three songs full of rage with which they get very good reviews in 2002. [SOURCE: GRUPOS NACIONALES NUEVAOLA80]
