Los Nikis

Los Nikis was a Spanish band of the eighties commited to give the "Movida Madrileña" a twist of the Ramones sound. Songs with funny lyrics and pop punk style like "El Imperio Contraataca", "La Naranja No Es Mecánica", "Por El Interés Te Quiero Andrés" and "Ernesto" have guaranteed them a place in the history of spanish pop music. They split up in the early 1990s, to dedicate each one to their respective careers, returning to publish an album in a limited edition at the end of the decade titled 'MasDeLoMismo'.

The only member of Los Nikis who returned to a musical career was Joaquín Rodríguez, founding Los Acusicas with Mauro Canut (Los Vegetales), counting for their first album '[Ha Sido Este]' with the collaborations of Emilio Niki and Nacho Canut (Fangoria).

After the dissolutionof Los Nikis, a large number of bands in Spain claim to be heirs to their casual pop-punk style, such as Airbag, F.A.N.T.A., Depressing Claim, No Picky, or Shock Treatment. Los Nikis fan club usually hosts an annual tribute concert in which the bands perform covers of the group.

On September 30, 2011, Los Nikis reunited for a short concert together with the Malaga group Airbag. Joaquín, Emilio and Arturo had collaborated in the recording of the album 'Manual De Montaña Rusa' of Airbag, concretely in the song "Opencor". Opening the concert of presentation of this album in Madrid, Emilio, Joaquín, Arturo and Johnny played five songs from Los Nikis: "Silvia Sobrini", "El Imperio Contraataca", "Salvaje Pasión", "La Naranja No Es Mecánica" and "10 Años En Sing Sing".
