Finis Africae

Finis Africae was a Spanish ambient collective formed in 1982, that released two albums in the first half of the 80s and remained sporadically active until 2000. The band included musicians coming from the folk and the new age as well as singers-songwriters, such as Juan Alberto Arteche Gual, Luis Delgado, Javier Bergia, Javier Paxariño, Markus Breuss and Juan Carlos Fernández Puerta. The band takes its name from Umberto Eco's novel "The Name of the Rose", in which "Finis Africae" is a secret area of the monastery library, where books considered dangerous for the Christian faith are hidden. In 1991, together with Clónicos and the Swiss painter Daniel Garbade, they presented in Madrid “Cláusulas”, a performance celebating the 700 years of the Swiss Confederation. [SOURCE: WIKIPEDIA]
